Maeve Coulter
Statement
Maeve Coulter graduated from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 1997 with a BA in Fine Art Print. The following year she attained a Higher Diploma in Art Education, specialising in Textiles. She now works in both disciplines and teaches art part-time.
Her recent work is an interpretation of her local rural environment, addressing the notion of home and our relationship to the land we occupy. The prints are mostly collographs and etchings. Her textile pieces are like fabric collages where stitching is used to embellish and create highly a textured and tactile surface. Lately she has been experimenting with incorporating intaglio printing on fabric into her textile work.
