    • A major exhibition of the “Le Chéile” project will be held in Oriel Ynys Mon, Llangefni, on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales, from Saturday, 24th September until Sunday, 6th November.     “Le Chéile” is an ongoing collaboration that brings together printmakers from the Leinster Printmaking Studio and the Regional Print Centre, Yale College, Wrexham, Wales. The artists are responding collaboratively to the diversity of the cultural connections between Wales and Ireland. Themes of land, language and place emerged as starting points. The work was, and continues to be exchanged by e-mail or post, in notebooks, as first proofs or, in some cases, by exchanging the original plates. The project began in 2006 and has developed a slow but steady momentum. The exhibition in Oriel Ynys Mon, which opens at 12.00 noon on Saturday 24th September, showcases the work to date.     For further information on the project: www.lecheileprintproject.blogspot.com
A selection of the work can be seen at the Urban Retreat Gallery, Hanover Quay, Dublin 2 until Sunday 18th September. (016337865)

In order to get the most out of the digital photographic printing process it is necessary to understand how colour works and is controlled in the digital environment. This two hour seminar shows photographers how to control the colour chain from capture to print and the questions they should ask of their fine art printer in order to get the best quality exhibition prints possible. By understanding the medium and its limits the photographer is empowered to fully participate in and control the creative process.

Hugh McElveen lectured in Digital and Evolving Technologies at IADT between 2001 to 2008. He also founded the digital imaging program at the Gallery of Photography in 2000. In 2008 he co-founded Exhibit A Studios, fine art printmakers. Hugh runs workshops and provides customised training solutions for digital imaging practitioners. He has been working as a professional photographer since 1995, recently specialising in studio still life and art work documentation. His first book 'Connemara: Legend and Landscape' was selected for Great Irish Book Week 2009 and is currently working on his second book of landscapes and an exhibition of portraits.
