Peter van der Burgt

I have worked as a physicist in The Netherlands, the USA and Canada. In 1993 I moved to Maynooth University where I am now emeritus associate professor. In September 2018 I started evening classes at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. In July 2024 I obtained the Higher Diploma in Art. I am currently doing art courses at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. My personal website is http://www.petervanderburgt.com/.

Statement

My artwork mainly consists of paintings of acrylic on canvas, and intaglio prints of etchings of aluminium plates. I want to explore natural landscapes and shapes in nature, and I am motivated by a personal interest in nature and wilderness conservation. I enjoy viewing and experiencing landscapes and the natural world. Most of my artwork is based on photography: in my travels and on my hikes, I always bring a camera.
